Turin and the Regione Piemonte, as a way of consolidating it's image as an area undergoing radical transformation, have, over the last five years, engaged in a major effort to gain international visibility for their scientific technological, artistic, cultural and culinary heritage.
The cultural, economic and social dynamism shown in the organisation of the XXth Winter Olympics in Turin 2006 and the Winter University Games in 2007, convinced the city to try and achieve other ambitious goals, some of which have already been brilliantly attained: and now Turin, after being the first World Design Capital in 2008, and hosting the World Architectural Congress in July, now looks forward to 2010 when it will be the European Capital of Science  and to 2011 with the celebrations of the 150th Anniversary of the Unification of Italy and Italian manufacturing.

IED Turin, operating since 1989, is located in a fascinating residential area in the city centre. More than 2500 square metres of schoolrooms and labs and an internal garden 500 square metres large host more than 800 students every year, both Italian and foreigners, offering the opportunity of studying in an international atmosphere, open to cultural exchange.
According to the Network philosophy, IED Turin puts into effect a didactic methodology based on the fusion of theorical lessons and practical workshop. Every year is characterised by a rich calendar of events, in order to strengthen the image of the Institute on the territory: expositions, conferences, fashion parades, fairs and cultural events allow to put on show students creative projects and to create new relationship with Institutions, media and companies.
